The systematic torture and/or ill treatment of protected persons (children) and their unlawful transfer from occupied territory (2013-2023)

This report considers 1,100 testimonies collected from Palestinian children detained by Israeli military forces in the occupied West Bank between 2013 and 2023. The evidence confirms that the ill treatment of children held in Israeli military detention is widespread, systematic and institutionalised. The evidence also confirms the unlawful transfer of these children from occupied territory.

MCW Annual Report (2022)

This report considers developments relating to the arrest and detention of children by the Israeli military in the occupied West Bank in 2022. Based on 100 testimonies the report includes information on: night arrests; physical violence; solitary confinement; denial of basic legal rights; administrative detention; unlawful discrimination; and the unlawful transfer of children from occupied territory.

MCW Annual Report (2021)

This report considers developments relating to the arrest and detention of children by the Israeli military in the West Bank in 2021 and 2022. In addition to reviewing relevant legal and procedural changes the report considers the findings from 100 testimonies obtained from children detained during 2021. The report also considers the forcible transfer and unlawful detention of children outside the West Bank.

Breaking the Silence - Military Rule: Testimonies of soldiers from the Civil Administration (August 2022)

This report considers how Israel's Civil Administration (a military body tasked with managing the civilian aspects of ruling the occupied West Bank) uses the granting of permits to Palestinians for such things as travel, work and medical treatment, to collect intelligence. According to the report: "Providing public services is a duty Israel bears as the occupying power. The provision of services is, in and of itself, the means of control."

US State Department Human Rights Report (2022)

This report covers violations in 2021 and considers the treatment of children in military detention. The Report is mandated by Congress and documents human rights conditions in nearly 200 countries and territories. Staff in US embassies around the world compile the information contained in the Report. As in previous years the Report considers the treatment of Palestinian children held in Israeli military detention.

Children held in Solitary Confinement (December 2021)

This report notes that historically, less than 4 percent of Palestinian child detainees have reported being held in solitary confinement as part of their interrogation process - or 20 to 40 children each year. The report suggests that the proportion of children currently held in solitary confinement has surged to nearly 20 percent - with the trend continuing to rise. This surge equates to between 100 to 200 children each year.

Yesh Din - A Life Exposed: Military invasions of Palestinian homes in the West Bank (November 2020)

This report by Yesh Din, Breaking the Silence and Physicians for Human Rights considers the impact of Israeli military night raids on Palestinian homes in the West Bank. Almost every night, armed Israeli soldiers raid homes, wake women, men and children, and carry out different actions inside the homes of Palestinian residents. According to UN figures, these invasions occur more than 200 times each month.

Hamoked - Under Cover of Darkness: Night Arrests of Palestinian Minors by Israeli Security Forces in the West Bank (October 2020)

This report considers the continued practice of arresting Palestinian children in the middle of the night. Hundreds of times a year, Israeli troops invade Palestinian homes in the West Bank in the middle of the night, sow fear and panic among household members – children and adults alike – and take a teenager from the family into custody. The arrests are a violent affair.
