Annual Report of the Secretary-General on children and armed conflict

[21 June 2020] – On 15 June 2020, the UN released the Annual Report of the Secretary-General on Children and Armed Conflict. The report notes that the UN received affidavits from 166 children who reported ill-treatment and breaches of due process by Israeli forces.

US State Department: Human Rights Report (2020)

[24 March 2020] – On 11 March 2020, the US State Department published its annual country report on human rights for 2019. The Report is mandated by Congress and documents human rights conditions in nearly 200 countries and territories. Staff in US embassies around the world compile the information contained in the Report.

Coronavirus update

[23 March 2020] – On 5 March 2020, the Israeli military authorities in the West Bank announced new measures in response to the Corona Virus. These measures include: a reduction in the number of court hearings; court hearings via video link; and restrictions of family visits.

The UNICEF Report - 7 years on

[6 March 2020] - In 2013 UNICEF published findings following a review of the treatment of children held in Israeli military detention. UNICEF concluded that the ill-treatment of children who come in contact with the system "appears to be widespread, systematic and institutionalised." MCW reviews developments 7-years on.

ICC update

[29 February 2020] – On 20 December 2019, the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Court (ICC) concluded her 5-year preliminary examination into Palestine and announced that “there is a reasonable basis to believe that war crimes have been or are being committed”.
