Transferring children to interrogation centres on the floor of military vehicles - In 2013, following an extensive review of the treatment of children held in Israeli military detention, UNICEF reported that "many children are subjected to ill-treatment during the journey to the interrogation centre. Some endure physical or verbal abuse; some suffer from painful restraints or from being forced to lie on the floor of the vehicle. The transfer process can take many hours and often includes intermediate stops at settlements or military bases where further ill-treatment is reported." At the time of UNICEF's review, 451 children reported being transferred on the metal floor of Israeli military vehicles. Read more

Two Kids a Day - A film by David Wachsmann - Jerusalem Film Festival (official selection) - Each year, over 700 Palestinian minors are arrested throughout the West Bank. UNICEF concluded that "the ill-treatment of children who come in contact with the system appears to be widespread, systematic and instutionalized throughout the process, from the moment of arrest until the child's prosecution and eventual conviction and sentencing." "TWO KIDS A DAY" presents the mechanism behind the Israeli detention of Palestinian minors, showing points of view of the parties contributing to the system, documentation from the interrogation rooms and the bereft homes of those, that lose their childhood. Trailer

A child's testimony - On 29 April 2022, a 16-year-old minor from Douha was arrested by Israeli soldiers at 10:00 a.m. as he attempted to enter Jerusalem without a permit. He reports being transferred to a detention facility inside Israel where he was held in solitary confinement for 8 days. "I wanted to go to Jerusalem to pray at the mosque during the month of Ramadan so I crossed over the separation barrier near the town of Beit Jalal together with some friends and ran as fast as I could. It was around 10:00 a.m. I didn't get far before I was ambushed by a group of Israeli soldiers. I told the soldiers I had no idea where I was and just wanted to go to the mosque. The soldiers took me to the back of a military jeep and made me sit on a seat." Read more
