Gaza - Resolve the root causes says the UN Secretary General

[July 2014] - On 22 July, during a press conference in Tel-Aviv, the UN Secretary General stated that: "My message is the same for Israelis and Palestinians: Stop fighting, start talking and take on the root causes of the conflict so that we are not at the same situation in the next six months or a year.

ICJ Advisory Opinion - 10 years on

[July 2014] - This July marked the 10th anniversary of the International Court of Justice's (ICJ) advisory opinion on the legal consequences of Israel's construction of a wall in the West Bank. To date there have been no effective measures to implement the opinion of the Court.

UN Secretary-General's Annual Report on Children and Armed Conflict

[July 2014] - On 1 July 2014, the UN Secretary-General's Annual Report on Children and Armed Conflict was presented to the Security Council in New York. The report highlights global trends regarding the impact of armed conflict on children in 23 locations, including Israel and Palestine.

Night raids and summonses - Update

[June 2014] - In October 2013, UNICEF announced that the Israeli military authorities had agreed to introduce a pilot scheme to issue written summonses in lieu of arresting children at night in the West Bank. Israel's chief military prosecutor in the West Bank repeated this announcement in February 2014.

G4S announcement to continue involvement with unlawful detention for three years may amount to aggravating circumstance

[June 2014] - On 2 June 2014, G4S published a report on its website purporting to absolve itself of all moral and legal responsibility arising out of its commercial activities in Israel and Palestine. However three days later G4S announced that it will not be renewing its contract with the Israeli Prison Service when it expires in 2017.
